Show Notes!
Robbie has been an influential character in whitewater kayaking, especially in the last few years. He has a deeply introspective approach to his paddling, river snorkeling, and all around way around water… but not without controversy either. In the Fall of 2019, Robbie and friend Mac McGee swam portions of the fabled Upper Gauley River with nothing more than a buoyant wetsuit, fins, helmets, and webbed gloves. It may very well have been one of the more misunderstood feats in 2019 all around. Was it too dangerous and irresponsible? Are they putting others at risk? Was the approach too que será, será? Regardless of what your view is on their pursuit, after listening to this episode you won’t be able to deny Robbie’s thoughtfulness, and personal ethos of comfort and familiarity in the water.
